Six October University Library (SOUL):
SOUL is spread over 9000 square meters and surrounded by a green area of 2000 square meters. It is a civilization, cultural, educational and research edifice established to serve the research, educational and academic needs of the community. The Library contributes to enhancing the educational process, research projects and providing information services to students, researchers, O6U members of staff and The 6th of October City community. SOUL comprises University library, public library, and a library for children that organize various activities for children and youth. ). It comprises also a civilizations hall, a celebrities’ hall, a conference hall, a data show room and a science exhibition. SOUL also has museums that comprise some of the personal belongings of the most famous writers such as Naguib Mahfouz (Nobel laureate in literature), Youssef Idris and Abbas Al-Aqqad. On paper based content, SOUL has about 200 scientific periodicals issued in Arabic and English languages, and more than one thousand theses, in addition to 120.000 electronic periodicals. The Library has an automated operating system which enables users to search for resources from inside and outside the Library through its website. The Library shares the database of the Knowledge Bank, which provides more than 100 international databases, providing researchers with millions of full texts of information in various disciplines. |
